Villa Borgen/Nilsen, Trondheim 2008
Project: Villa, 120 sqm
Contractor: Tømrermester Tor Eilertsen

A small villa for a couple with two children on the outskirts of Trondheim. The house is an effort to make the most of a modest budget and an uninteresting site through a simple construction, offering three distinct stories.

The main floor contains the living and cooking space, a fireplace and a small bathroom/technical room. The whole floor is sunk 70 cm into the ground making the views out of the large windows very intimate, with close contact to the ground, the grass, the flowers, the snow and the trees on the site.

The first floor is a box fully built entirely out of massive wood with six regularly placed windows. It contains three bedrooms, a living room and a bathroom. The whole floor is rather introverted, creating a contrast to the open main floor.

The roof terrace gives the inhabitants the view that they could not afford to buy, close contact with the tree canopy and the possibility of an outdoor bathtub and kitchen.
